Do you suffer from serious neck pain, sharp shooting pain in the shoulders and arms, numbness and tingling in the arms and hands, severe chronic headaches??

Does neck pain affect your sleep, your mood, your job, your marriage, YOUR LIFE?

Well you’re not alone.

Most medical doctors will recommend rest, pills or injection for neck pain, however these aren’t cures they simply delay or mask the pain.

We have found that the 2 main causes of neck pain are Injuries and Postural stress conditions/or lifestyle factors.

Now by postural stress I mean those prolonged hours spent slouched laying on the couch, or the hours spent by our children playing computer games, or the hours spent looking at our phone which gives us the all too common and fashionable “text neck”. And the number 1 cause of postural stress… you got it… those prolonged hours, day after day of sitting in front of a computer screen or television.

These are comments we get on a daily basis at our clinic.

How we can help you.

Low level light therapy allows us to target any microscopic tears and soft tissue damage that has occurred as a result of injury or accident. The Low level laser will lead to a physiological response in the affected area that will reduce inflammation and help cell repair. As a result reducing the patient’s pain and discomfort. This combined with conventional chiropractic has given us an edge when it comes to treating neck pain.

In a 2009 study involving 820 patients with chronic neck pain. Low level light laser therapy reduced pain significantly for up to 22 weeks after the treatment had finished.

“After an intervention period of 39 days, spinal manipulation was the only intervention that achieved statistically significant IMPROVEMENTS”. J Manipulative Physical therapy 1999.
Chiropractic Manipulation of the spine was more helpful than any of the following – traction, massage ,biofeedback, acupuncture ,injection of steroids and ultrasound”. Stankley Bigos.MD. Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery.

The second major cause of chronic neck pain is that which is due to an existing injury or accident. This may be something that happened years ago that hadn’t even crossed your mind. Like falling from a bike, or a horse, a small impact as a child or teenager that created a degree of whiplash and ligamentous tearing. This damages tissue if left untreated can lead to longer term neck problems.

Our imaging and orthopaedic testing helps identify the exact site of injury. We determine how it may have happened and any lifestyle factors that may be adding to the problem or preventing the injury healing.

Understanding the underlying cause of a problem that may have been present for a long time helps the patient understand and feel at ease that finally a treatment for their pain is at hand. Often we treat patients that have had their debilitating neck pain for years. They often have had many treatments from many different therapists, but all only offered temporary relief. Many of our patients come in with neck pain that was caused by an injury or accident years earlier. In the following years post injury the inflammatory response sets in, scar tissue lays down, calcium deposits and the patient will then start to experience a limited movement throughout their neck region. An acute injury will nearly always lead to a chronic condition if left untreated.

It is a priority at our clinic to involve you in your own treatment. By this we mean taking on board any advice given to you by your practitioner to aid and your recovery. These are things such as sitting up straight while at your desk, using the correct pillow, strengthening weak muscles, changing your phone habits. Forward head carriage, weak neck flexor muscles and overactive muscles are all common causes of chronic neck conditions.

We will conduct a thorough physical, neurological and orthopaedic examination to help identify any compensations or other problems that may be a result of your initial condition. Areas of weakness will be identified and cold laser will then be used to reduce the scar tissue and start cell repair and regeneration in the affected area. This used alongside conventional Chiropractic and Physiotherapy treatments will get you on the road to your goals much quicker.

The number of treatment required is largely dependent on the severity of the injury and how long the injury has been present. A general rule of thumb is the longer the injury has been present, the longer it will take to heal.

You don’t have to struggle with low back pain anymore. We have used our Cold laser therapy in conjunction with conventional chiropractic for nearly ten tears with outstanding results. If you have been living with pain for too long give our office a call today and get on the path to recovery.
